Cyber Hanuman: Wayang Kulit Reinterpretation

This project explores the reinterpretation of traditional Wayang Kulit through a contemporary design lens, focusing on how cultural heritage can evolve within modern visual language.

I selected Hanuman as the central figure and reimagined him as a cyber-inspired guardian, integrating circuit-like patterns to symbolise digital connectivity and modern protection. This fusion of mythology and technology reflects the evolving role of cultural narratives in a digitally driven world.

Through iterative sketching and experimentation, I developed a shadow puppet that balances traditional silhouette clarity with modern geometric detailing. The final outcome is a functional, movable puppet designed for shadow projection, combining handcrafted techniques with contemporary visual interpretation.

The project demonstrates how heritage art forms can be preserved while being recontextualised for modern storytelling environments.
