Dual Identity Self-Portrait

This project explores self-representation through collage, focusing on the coexistence of contrasting personality traits within a single visual identity.

I investigated the duality between a vibrant, expressive side and a more restrained, introspective side, using layered materials to visually communicate this contrast.

Through the use of torn paper, texture layering, gouache painting, and controlled composition, I constructed a self-portrait that merges fragmentation and cohesion. The interaction between geometric forms and organic facial structure reflects the complexity of identity formation.

The final outcome is a layered mixed-media portrait that communicates identity as fluid, multi-dimensional, and context-dependent.
